German costume designer Ute Hofinger has frequently collaborated with director Joseph Vilsmaier on such productions as Stalingrad (1992), Schlafes Bruder/Brother of Sleep (1995), and Comedian Harmonists (1998). She started out as a freelance stylist and an advertising fashion editor who specialized in television and the press. For a few years during the late '70s, she was on the editorial staffs of Twen and Playboy but left in 1980. Hofinger became a costume designer for Marianne Rosenbaum's Peppermint-Frieden. She has often worked on television. In film, she has also worked closely with filmmaker Jo Bair, on such productions as Maier and Woldfeur.
