Serving on the Disney staff for nearly half a decade, animator and director Ted Berman gave life to some of the most memorable characters in film history, including Bambi and characters from Peter Pan, Mary Poppins,Lady and the Tramp, and Alice in Wonderland.

Born in East L.A. in 1920, Berman honed his artistic skills from his earliest days, attending California Institute of Art forerunner the Chouinard Art Institute and winning numerous newspaper competitions as a child. Joining Disney in 1940, Berman worked on numerous successful theatrical releases by the Mouse House in addition to his work on television's The Wonderful World of Color and The Mickey Mouse Club. Turning to writing and directing in his later years, Berman served as scribe to such popular later efforts from the studio as The Fox and the Hound (1981) and The Rescuers (1977), in addition to later directing Disney's first PG-rated theatrical release, The Black Cauldron (1985).

In July of 2001, Burman died of natural causes in Los Angeles, CA. He was 81.
