Biography by AllMovie

The daughter of French icon Jacques Titi, film editor/director Sophie Tatischeff began her career editing her father's final three films, later moving on to edit for such other luminaries as Jean-Pierre Melville and Jean-Jacques Annaud. Born in France in October of 1946, Tatischeff took the director's chair for the first time in 1976 with Degustation maison (which won the Cesar for Best Short Film two years later), with a 22-year span between that and her sole feature credit, Le Comptoir (1998). Aquiring the rights to her father's films with her director/cousin Kerome Deschamps in 2000 (previously lost with the bankruptcy of Tati's company, Playtime), Tatischeff died in France the following year following an extended illness. She was 55.
