Biography by AllMovie

Best known as the producer of Mel Brooks' 1968 comedy The Producers, Sidney Glazier's road to success is as interesting as The Producers is funny. Born in Philadelphia, PA, in 1916, young Glazier worked in a local movie theater before serving in World War II. Later finding success as a salesman of State of Israel bonds, the job lead directly to a position as executive director of the Eleanor Roosevelt Cancer Foundation. Putting his extensive knowledge of the former First Lady to good use, Glazier served as the producer of 1965's Best Documentary Oscar recipient, The Eleanor Roosevelt Story. It was this success that lead Glazier down the path toward producing such features as Take the Money and Run (1969), The Twelve Chairs (1970), and Glen and Randa (1971). By the time the '80s rolled around, Glazier's career as a producer had pretty much run its course. On December 14, 2002, Sidney Glazier died in Bennington, VT, at the age of 86.
