American screenwriter Bernard L. Schubert was one of several bright young men brought into the RKO Radio writing stable in 1931. After his tenure at RKO, Schubert worked for Sol Lesser, MGM, and Republic. He spent several years in the 1940s at Universal, co-writing such melodramas as Jungle Woman (1944) and Frozen Ghost (1947). An occasional playwright, Schubert's theatrical piece Song of Love, based on the lives of musicians Robert and Clara Schumann, was filmed by MGM in 1947. Moving into television in the early '50s, Bernard L. Schubert was executive producer of the popular TV weeklies Topper (1953-1955) and Crossroads (1955-1957).
