Documentary filmmaker Phillip Schuman specialized in "the making of" documentaries, a popular, none-too-subtle form of marketing big-budget and usually technically advanced feature films. Though he became a filmmaker in the '70s, Schuman did not enter this aspect of his career until 1981 when Lucasfilm hired him to direct The Making of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Schuman subsequently made similar films for The Terminator and RoboCop. His other documentary credits include Great Movie Stunts and Six Days and Nights.
