Daughter of the refined, Oscar-nominated American actor Sam Waterston (The Killing Fields, Law & Order), statuesque actress Katherine Waterston attended New York University and then followed her dad's footsteps by entering the arena of acting, taking her on-camera bow in fellow show-business scion Bryce Dallas Howard's short-subject film Orchids. Waterston scored her feature film debut with a bit part in Tony Gilroy's Best Picture-nominated Michael Clayton (2007) and signed for her first lead in a Hollywood feature in David Ross' black comedy The Babysitters (2007), in which she played an honors student who slides into an affair with a dissatisfied suburban househusband and then turns the tables to engage in a little fly-by-night prostitution (and collect some college money in the process) via affairs with the husband's friends.
