Biography by AllMovie

A pioneering actor/director with the Vitagraph company from 1912, Ned Finley came from vaudeville to direct Edith Storey in Westerns filmed on location in the Blue Ridge Mountains. As a publicity stunt, Finley disappeared completely from view in August of 1915, Vitagraph publicizing their "search" in the trade paper Moving Picture World. The veteran performer was "found" safe and sound near Hendersonville, NC, and resumed working with Miss Storey until 1918 when he returned to vaudeville. Finley committed suicide in September of 1920, reportedly by ingesting strychnine.
