Animator Joe Oriolo is the creator of Casper the Friendly Ghost. He began his career working in comic books and from there worked for several major animation studios. In the late '50s, while working for Paramount, he helped revamp Felix the Cat and directed and produced over 200 television cartoon episodes for Trans-Lux. Through his own production company, Oriolo was also behind the Mighty Hercules cartoon series of the early '60s. Earlier in his career, Oriolo also did cartoon voices. His son, Don Oriolo, also became an animator.
