Harry Holt was a notable animator for both film and television, his imaginative pen contributing to the success of such unforgettable Disney classics as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Lady and the Tramp. Holt began his career at Disney as an apprentice in 1936, quickly working his way up to scene designer. Following work on the aforementioned Disney classics, Holt remained with the company for nearly 20 years before departing to pursue work with Hanna-Barbera. Work on such popular small-screen cartoons as The Flintstones and Tom and Jerry kept the busy animator's creativity flowing, and a subsequent return to Disney in the 1960s found Holt filling the role of chief designer for Disney World. In addition to greeting guests at the popular theme park, the always sociable Holt sculpted the character models for such popular attractions as the Pirates of the Caribbean ride -- which were in turn used by the sculpture department to create lifelike animatronic figures for the attraction. Holt also designed models for the Country Bear Jamboree, Snow White, and Haunted Mansion attractions, among others. On April 14, 2004, Harry Holt died of natural causes in Casselberry, FL. He was 93.
