Biography by AllMovie

A six-foot, 200-pound silent screen actor, Henry A. Barrows came to the screen in the early 1910s after years in musical comedy opposite the likes of Elsie Janis, Lew Fields, and Henry W. Savage. Very busy throughout the silent era, Barrows played top supporting roles for all the major film companies and quite a few of the minors -- including Biograph, Universal, Brentwood, American, Astra, Vitagraph, and Pathé -- almost always cast as pillars of society, doctors, judges, bishops, and the like. His roles grew smaller in the latter part of the 1920s and he became an extra after the advent of sound. Barrows' son, George Barrows, played bit parts in films until the early '80s.
