Biography by AllMovie

Harold Lloyd cast this aged trouper as his crafty grandmother in his first feature film, Grandma's Boy (1922). Townsend, who had earlier played Harry Carey's mother in John Ford's Three Mounted Men (1918), so impressed Jackie Coogan's father that she was immediately ushered into the tyke's Daddy (1923). She returned to Lloyd in her final film appearance, playing the elderly shopper getting the worst of it during the department store crunch in Safely Last (1923).
