A handsome, appealing dancer with a promising film career during the '30s and '40s, Paul Draper was a casualty of McCarthyism. He started out as a tap dancer and spent most of his career teamed up with harmonica player Larry Adler. Draper distinguished his dance routines by combining traditional tap with elements of classical ballet. He made his feature film debut in Colleen (1936). Both he and Adler's careers were destroyed when the House Un-American Activities Committee accused them of leftist leanings.
