A fiddler who specialized in rock, but who was equally talented in other musical genres, Papa John Creach is best remembered for his long association with Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship and Hot Tuna. Creach appeared as an actor in two feature films, A Gathering of Old Men (1987), in which he played one of a group of elderly black plantation workers who protect an innocent young neighbor from a vengeful landowner, and Les Portes Tournante (Revolving Doors [1988]).
