- Helped take his University of Houston team to the Final Four in 1982 and 1983 as a member of the Phi Slamma Jamma front line.
- Was a ten-time NBA All-Star in 1986, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1996 and 1997.
- Won a 1992 Olympic Gold Medal in basketball as a member of the Dream Team.
- Won an NBA Championship with the Houston Rockets in 1995.
- He, Oscar Robertson and John Havlicek are the only three players in NBA history to have amassed more than 20,000 points, 6,000 rebounds and 3,000 assists.
