Biography by AllMovie

On-stage from 1951, British actor Patrick Wymark is most fondly remembered for his frequent voice-over "appearances" as Prime Minister Winston Churchill. Wymark impersonated Churchill off-camera in the documentary features The Finest Hours (1964) and A King's Story, and appeared as "Winnie" in the flesh in Operation Crossbow (1965). His other film roles were equally authoritative: He was seen as Oliver Cromwell in The Conqueror Worm (1967), while in Cromwell (1969) he showed up as the Earl of Stafford. Disciples of Roman Polanski will immediately recognize Patrick Wymark as Catherine Deneuve's landlord in Polanski's Repulsion (1965).
