H. Bruce Mitchell entered films as a director in 1912. By the time talkies came in, Mitchell's directorial career had eclipsed. Dropping the "H" from his name, he launched his acting career with 1932's Airmail Mystery. For the next decade, Bruce Mitchell essayed numerous bit roles, usually as cops and desk sergeants, with the occasional larger role in serials and "B"-westerns.
