Anna Hofman-Uddgren was pioneer in Swedish cinema. She was not only Sweden's first female director, she was also the second female director in the world (the first was Alice Guy). In addition to directing, she was also a well-known actress and owner of a Stockholm music hall where she began showing films in 1898 as part of larger programs. In 1911, she made one of the first commercial films in her country, Stockholmsfrestelser. She continued directing until her husband's death in 1912.
