American Justice: War Crimes
Plot Synopsis by Sarah Ing

A&E remembers the trials that gave the world closure in American Justice: War Crimes. Beginning in 1946, the Nuremberg Trials became a force of poetic and literal justice. Half a century after these convictions, one last Nazi criminal faced prosecution. John Demjanjuk traveled from Nazi concentration camps to a death chamber in Israel to free American soil. At the age of 81, he underwent a second trial for his actions so many years ago. Despite the Nuremberg judge's warning, war crimes were repeated many years later by Americans in Vietnam. A&E recounts how one man, William Calley, was brought to bear for the deaths of over 500 villagers in the My Lai massacre. Though he was but one leader of a platoon of soldiers, Calley took the blame for indiscriminately murdering men, women, and children. A&E gives an unflinching account of the travesties of war.
