Synopsis by Alice Day
Eileen Farrell is a classically trained soprano and one of the most celebrated singers of the 20th century. But Farrell has another side. She would often mix pop and blues songs in with her repertoire, causing controversy among her critics. In this concert, Eileen Farrell: An American Prima Donna, she does exactly that, offering a selection of arias, then breaking into "But Not for Me" with equal confidence and success. Backed by the Orchestra of Radio-Canada, Farrell demonstrates her expertise in both genres.
