Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Mere minutes after the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) went into effect on January 1, 1994, a powerful army of Mayan soldiers overthrew half of the Southeastern Mexican state of Chiapas to wage war against corporate superpowers. This is the story of the Zapatista National Liberation Army and the bold steps they took to stand up to a first world military power. Armed with little more than sticks, stones, and their word, the Zapatista National Liberation Army brought pause to 175,000 federal troupes before changing the face of international politics forever, and now the story is told from the mouths of those who were there to witness this historical confrontation firsthand.
