Synopsis by Clarke Fountain

This documentary film examines the life of virtuoso violinist Yehudi Menuhin. Though Menuhin is known for his classical work, he has performed a wide variety of music, including jazz and rock pieces. He is also known for his collaborations with classical Indian sitarist Ravi Shankar, among others. He is likely to be best-remembered, however, for his tireless work in educating young performers. This film does more than show concert footage; interviews with his wife, mentor/friend Arthur Rubenstein, and his sisters, who are virtuoso pianists are shown. Naturally, the performer himself is interviewed, and his interviews are highlights of this well-made French documentary.
