After barely surviving a sandstorm, Xena (Lucy Lawless) tries to end a war between two hostile African tribes. It is her argument that unless the tribes bury the hatchet and work together, they will both be overwhelmed by the invading Romans. Meanwhile, Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor) agonizes over accidentally killing an unarmed man, her grief-stricken musings consisting mainly of flashbacks from previous Xena: Warrior Princess episodes.
