Originally telecast October 10, 1992, Part One of "Night of the Sentinels" was the inaugural episode of the Fox Network cartoon series X-Men. The story is set in motion when Jubilation Lee, a Chinese-American teenaged mutant, is rescued by the X-Men from a shopping-mall attack instigated by the Sentinels, a pack of mutant-catching robots. Ostensibly, the Sentinels were designed by the Mutant Registration Program to protect Jubilation and her kind from persecution; in truth, the huge robots are the handiwork of renegades Gyrich and Trask, who hope to wipe all mutants off the face of the earth!
