Synopsis by Eleanor Mannikka

The plight of an underprivileged, neglected child is sensitively handled in this drama by Polish director Jerzy Passendorfer. The little boy runs away from home where he has suffered because of an alcoholic mother and a petty criminal for a father. A journalist and his wife take the little five-year-old under their wing with great affection and concern, especially since they were about to divorce over their inability to have children of their own. Then complications arise when the birth mother wants her boy back, but the cold-hearted father is willing to make a deal with the adoptive parents.
