This series from the History Channel explores some of the most dangerous and deadly natural disasters of all time, including this episode on some of the most devastating blizzards in American history and how the snow storms have paralyzed many cities. The 1988 Nebraska storm is often called the "school children's blizzard" since the core of the storm hit at around the time children were getting out of school. In that same year, New York City was stunned with a blizzard so big it closed down the entire city, proving that even big urban areas are not immune to a blizzard's wrath. There are also looks two Chicago blizzards that made history. The Windy City storm of 1967 broke some snow records that still exist today and the storm of 1979 not only caused physical damage around Chicago, but also affected the city's mayoral election and put an end to the career of the city's democratic mayor.
