Unaware that undercover agent Vinnie (Ken Wahl) has joined the Steelgrave mob to get the goods on head man Sonny Steelgrave (Ray Sharkey), the police plant their own informer--and a deadly one at that--in Sonny's operation. Beginning to suspect that Vinnie is hiding something, Sonny orders him to smoke out the "mole", or suffer the consequences. Attempting to keep Vinnie's dual identity a secret, his OCB boss Frank (Jonathan Banks) takes a hand in matters--and is kidnapped and tortured for his trouble. A pre-stardom Annette Bening makes a significant guest appearance.
