Synopsis by Nathan Southern
Taking as its cue the valid assumption that most men and women are unschooled in marine biology will be unfamiliar with the behind-the-scenes going on at aquariums, Window to the Sea investigates those individuals responsible for pulling in, sustaining, promoting, and displaying sea life to the public at marine observatories. It incorporates four documentary segments, each set at a unique aquarium: Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, CA; New England Aquarium in Boston, MA; Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, IL; and Waikiki Aquarium, Honolulu, HI. The variance in the locales ensures a diversity of climate and wildlife as the documentary takes the audience from one institution to another and introduces the people who expend great energy saving sea animals from permanent extinction.
