Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This tale of international intrigue was directed by Francis Ford, who also starred in a dual role. At a Paris hotel, Ludwig Schumann, a spy (Ford), and James Walbert of the American Secret Service (also Ford) meet and are struck by how closely they resemble each other. Walbert is given papers meant for Schumann and, after overpowering his lookalike, he follows the instructions to obtain plans for an interoceanic canal. He boards a steamer where he meets Wanda Bartell (Beatrice Van), the woman meant to be Schumann's confederate. He also meets pretty Marion Washburn (Mae Gaston). Marion's fiancé, Herbert Cornell (Duke Worne) has been entrusted with the documents. When they all reach New York, Wanda gets Cornell to invite her up to his rooms and she poisons his drink. But just as she grabs the plans, Walbert reveals his presence -- and his true identity. Wanda drains the rest of the poisoned drink and falls at his feet. With Marion's help, Walbert is able to round up the rest of the spy ring. For those who don't already know, Francis Ford was the older brother of director John Ford.
