Produced by Gower Gulch perennial Benjamin F. Wilson, this low-budget silent Western was but one in a series starring the team of Dick Hatton and Marilyn Mills. Hatton played a cowboy guide at a dude ranch and Mills the society girl, with whom he falls in love. The ranch foreman (Jack Richardson) and his accomplice, city vamp Clara Morris, are attempting to fleece Mills' father (Roy Laidlaw), but Hatton gets wise to their schemes. With the assistance of Marilyn's clever horse Beverly, the hero manages to bring the crooks to justice. A curiously un-photogenic silent Western lead, Dick Hatton starred in scores of very low-budget oaters until his sudden death in a car accident in 1931. Marilyn Mills (aka Mary Bruning) was a Dutch-born stunt rider and the wife of Gower Gulch producer J. Charles Davis. Her screen career ended with the coming of sound. The Arthur Johnson listed in the cast of this film is, of course, not the star of the early 1910s, who had died in 1916.
