A slew of desert films were made in the wake of The Sheik's success. This programmer pays little more than lip service to the story laid out in the original Rudolph Valentino film. Although Louise (stage star Violet Heming) is happily married to Eldred Caldwell (Robert Frazer), she has a former suitor who still lusts after her. The Caldwells relocate to the edge of an Arabian desert because Eldred has a job there as a bank cashier. The rejected suitor shows up and decides to frame Caldwell on a forgery charge to get him out of the way. He enlists the help of George Stevenson, who looks so much like Caldwell (he's also played by Frazer) that he fools everyone. When Stevenson commits suicide, he is believed to be Caldwell, who has fled to the desert and become a sheik. World War I breaks out and the sheik, who has been fighting valiantly for the British, is wounded and brought to a hospital. There he meets the head nurse -- who happens to be Louise.
