Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Australian game-show entrepreneur Reg Grundy has been associated with two series bearing the title Wheel of Fortune. The more famous of the two, which was inspired by the American program of the same name, debuted in 1981. This earlier, unrelated version, in which a small sideshow-style spinning wheel determined cash and merchandise prizes (minus the letter-turning and other accoutrements of the later series), was broadcast from Sydney beginning in 1959 and 1962. Inasmuch as Grundy pulled double duty as producer and host, the series was officially known as Reg Grundy's Wheel of Fortune.
