Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Two men, Madison Hale (Theodore Roberts) and Govrian Texler (Hobart Bosworth) are rivals for a contract to build a railroad through Maritzia (one of those mythical kingdoms so popular in silent films). King Stephen (Raymond Hatton), ruler of Maritzia, is in debt to Texler, and Texler is willing to forgive the debt, providing he get the contract, and also providing that Princess Irenia (Louise Huff) marry his co-conspirator Vasloff (James Cruze). But Hale's son, Dick (Jack Pickford, brother of film star Mary Pickford), falls in love with Irenia while traveling through Maritzia, and the jealous Vasloff angrily has him arrested. Irenia, however, works out a plan with Dick's father that gets him out of prison and saves the contract. When the King discovers some royal blood in Dick's lineage, he allows the young couple to marry. This film was adapted from the play by George Broadhurst.
