Synopsis by Andrea LeVasseur

Australian filmmaker Barbara Chobocky directs the hour-long documentary Welcome to the Waks Family. Throughout a period of five years, Chobocky follows one of the largest families in Australia: Zephaniah and Haya Waks and their 17 naturally born children. The Waks belong to a strict Orthodox Jewish religion that doesn't allow for many modern privileges and keeps them somewhat distanced from the rest of society. Staying in touch with their large family has them traveling to New York and Israel. Chobocky briefly introduces the background of the mother and father prior to their marriage. Welcome to the Waks Family was shown at the2003 Vancouver Jewish Film Festival.
