Weird Nature (2002)

Synopsis by Hal Erickson
The title pretty much covered everything in this six-episode cable-TV documentary series, which ran in Britain over the BBC just before finding an American home on the Discovery Channel. The individual episodes were devoted to the strange, unusual, and sometimes downright surrealistic behavioral patterns of animals. A prime example was the opening episode, which included everything from dancing lobsters to airborne frogs. Released simultaneously with a "companion book" written by series producer John Downer, Weird Nature made its U.S. debut on October 4, 2002.
