Synopsis by Rose of Sharon Winter

The Persian Gulf War in 1991 brought images of bombs and destruction to the television screen, as America waged Operation Desert Storm against Iraq. The specter of war is especially frightening to children, whose sense of security is threatened. This program, hosted by Peter Jennings, aired so that parents could help their children understand the issues of the war and how they were likely to be affected. The call-in show featured questions from children, with topics ranging from geography to oil to war prisoners. The questions were answered in a straightforward, non-threatening way.
