A wealthy Chicago widow ships her pretty young daughter off to an Eastern finishing school. Upon her arrival, the daughter meets and falls in love with a handsome young man -- never dreaming that he is the present sweetheart of her own mother. When Mother finds out about this, she conspires with an old "family friend" to break up her daughter's engagement. But Mama concedes to True Romance after discovering that her so-called friend is actually the murderer of her late husband. It may sound like an up-to-date plotline for an ABC soap opera, but in fact The Voice of Love was filmed long before television -- or radio, for that matter -- had become commercially viable.
