Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This Japanese documentary, Vietnam, examines the Vietnam War, beginning with the Indochina War with France. It focuses particularly on a North Vietnamese anti-aircraft military squad, composed of quite young people. Their story is told in their letters home. It was filmed by a Japanese communist group, and was distributed mainly to other communist groups worldwide. Despite its obvious propaganda slant and staginess, it was well-photographed and edited.
