Synopsis by Laura Mahnken
This video explores the heritage of an ancient and rich culture. After beginning our journey with an ancient ritual in a Shinto shrine, we encounter guests at a therapeutic Ibusuki resort who are buried up to their chins in hot volcanic sand. Next, we take a quick lesson in the wonders and architectural advancements evident in the 400-year-old Himeji Castle. When we are through marveling at the Great Buddha of Kamakura, we are thrown into the frenetic pace of the Sanja Matsuri festival in downtown Tokyo.
