Created and produced by Cops mastermind John Langley, the weekly, half-hour docudrama series Video Justice was dedicated to proving how difficult it was for the workaday criminal to get away with crime in the early 21st century when virtually every street corner was equipped with a TV camera, and every pedestrian toted a minicam or picture-phone. Each half-hour episode featured actual taped footage of bad guys caught in the act of stealing money from church poor-boxes, holding up banks and convenience stores, leading the authorities on high-speed chases, and indulging in such illegal sports as "hot dog rodeo." Most of these real-life videos were accompanied by dramatizations of the events preceding and following the crime, with arrest and conviction a "given" every time. And, like Cops, the series was not above exploiting the humorous aspects of crime, ranging from a statue-stealing dog to a group of dimwitted crooks videotaping their own crimes!
