Synopsis by Mark Deming
Page McConnell, former keyboard player for the popular jam band Phish, takes his music in a new direction on this performance video. Vida Blue and the Spam Allstars: Live at the Fillmore features McConnell's band Vida Blue (which includes bassist Oteil Burbridge of the Allman Brothers Band and drummer Russell Batiste from the Meters) joining forces with the six-piece Afro-Cuban jazz ensemble the Spam Allstars for a set of jams that blend jazz, funk, R&B and rock flavors into a distinctive bouillabaisse all their own.
