Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Presented by the History Channel cable service, Vendettas was a four-part documentary series spotlighting famous (and infamous) conflicts, feuds, and showdowns in American history. The first episode chronicled the Johnson County cattle war in 19th century Wyoming, a bloody event which previously served as the basis for the 1980 theatrical feature Heaven's Gate. Subsequent episodes dealt with the Sutton-Taylor Feud, the Clay County (Kentucky) Feud, and, of course, the Hatfields versus the McCoys. Debuting January 8, 2002, Vendettas was originally broadcast over a four-night period, and simultaneously released on home video.
