Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Vadertje Langbeen is a Dutch version of the oft-filmed Jean Webster novel Daddy Long Legs. Lily Rowmeester stars as Judy, the oldest and feistiest inmate in a privately-funded orphanage. Wealthy Herr Van Woudenberg (Paul Storm) takes a liking to Judy and arranges to finance her education and entree into society, all the while keeping his identity a secret. Judy knows her benefactor only as "Daddy Long Legs", having once glimpsed his splindly shadow as he headed home. Upon reaching adulthood, our heroine falls in love with Van Woudenberg, never dreaming that he and "Daddy Long Legs" are one in the same. Van Woudenberg proposes marriage and Judy accepts--but first, she must obtain permission from her mysterious benefactor??.This adaptation of the Webster original was never officially released in the US, due to legal action from 20th Century-Fox, the producers of three of the four American versions of Daddy Long Legs.
