Synopsis by Janiss Garza

Thomas Carter (J.W. Johnston) loses his wife and child in a shipwreck. At least that's what he thinks, but the child was washed up onto a rock and saved by a fisherman. The fisherman does his awkward best to raise the girl, Nan (Louise Huff), and when he dies, the now teenaged lass heads for the city. There, she falls in with a gang of thieves who force her to help them on their jobs. At one house where the gang breaks in, the butler discovers them. In their attempt to escape, one crook shoots him dead, and Nan is captured. Her confession makes the gang's arrest possible, and she is taken in by the home's owner. The house they tried to rob turns out to be that of her father's, although neither one knows the other. After he lost his family, Mr. Carter adopted a boy named Robert, who has grown up to become a minister (John Bowers). Even though Robert has a sweetheart, he begins to take an interest in Nan, which verges on causing a scandal. The crook who killed the butler returns to get revenge on Nan and shoots her. When the doctor comes to dress her wound, a scar is revealed that identifies her as Carter's lost daughter.
