Synopsis by Maggie Sadler
In 2012, a disheartened Cardinal Bergoglio (Jonathan Pryce) asks Pope Benedict (Anthony Hopkins) for his blessing to retire after losing his faith in the motivations of the Church. In the face of scandal and doubt, Pope Benedict requests that his future successor meet with him in Rome to discuss one of the deepest secrets of the Catholic Church. The religious leaders must then reconcile their tumultuous histories if they are to bring their faith into the future. Directed by Fernando Meirelles.
