Synopsis by Jack Rodgers
In this larger-than-life satire of American military hubris, popular four-star Gen. Glen McMahon (Brad Pitt) is ordered to oversee NATO forces in Afghanistan and bring order to the country after eight years of war. Unsurprisingly, things don't go as planned -- and they get even worse when a crusading journalist exposes his secrets. Directed by David Michod (Animal Kingdom), War Machine is loosely based on the experiences of real-life Gen. Stanley McChrystal, which were chronicled in the non-fiction book The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan by Michael Hastings.
