Synopsis by Mark Deming

Four people are touched in different ways by a tragedy in this drama from German filmmaker Nicolai Rohde. Markus (Wolfram Koch) is an air traffic controller who was guiding a plane towards a landing when it collided with another jet, claiming the lives of 83 people. Months later, Markus feels a crushing guilt over his role in the accident and can barely function. Markus's wife Franziska (Marie Baumer) can no longer deal with her husband's dark mood and has found solace in the arms of another man. Meanwhile, Erik (Filip Peeters) is still coming to terms with the death of his wife and child in the crash, even as he enters into a new relationship with Daniela (Hannah Herzsprung). And Harald (Sebastian Blomberg) is a police officer who was sent to the scene of the accident, and the terrible images have been burned into his mind, coming back to haunt him when he least expects it. As Markus, Franziska, Erik and Harald each struggle with the aftermath of the accident, they find themselves drawn to a common fate. 10 Sekunden (aka 10 Seconds) was an official selection at the 2009 Berlin International Film Festival.
