Synopsis by Nathan Southern

Aha!, Bangladeshi director Enamul Karim Nirjhar's byzantine ensemble drama of intersecting lives, begins with a simple conceit. Mr. Mallik, a middle-aged loner, lives by himself in a mansion in Dhaka that his ancestors constructed; the house is now deteriorating beyond repair, but Mallik clings to the property and refuses to relinquish it, despite local real estate developer Rafique's stated interest in buying the property and giving Mallik both a substantial amount of cash and 10 of the 35 planned flats in return for the right to destroy the house. Mallik, however, consistently refuses. Not long after, Mallik's only daughter, Ruba, turns up from the U.S. and moves in with her father, with plans to take her Australian-born cousin Asif as a suitor; she also befriends an eccentric neighbor, Kislu, who habitually wears a series of multicolored briefs under his clothes. Meanwhile, Soleman, a reformed murderer who now works as a servant for Mallik, sets about defending Mallik's property but draws trouble from a local gang of thugs, who attempt to intimidate both Rafique and one of his close friends, Kanchan, a local gang lord.
