Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This film by Georgian filmmakers Shota and Nodar Managardze won a prize from the All Union Festival of the Soviet Union. While Sidonia, a Georgian peasant woman, waits for her pitcher to fill with water, she reminisces about her life. Her entire life story unrolls during that wait. She was born before the Russian Revolution and lived through the revolution and the Second World War. Her recollections of these events concern only their effects on her life. Three deaths punctuate the flow of her life. Two of her sons died in conflicts, and her husband died not long before the story begins.
