Synopsis by Clarke Fountain
This English documentary shows a family of British eccentrics in full flower. The family has been left behind by society as they lack gas, electricity, and indoor plumbing. Nonetheless, they are models of self-sufficiency, and the little money they need comes from their skills at tinkering with machinery. They tell their own stories with great wit and intelligence and make many comments about contemporary concerns such as pollution. The culmination of the film shows the police escorting them as they drive a mechanical creation of theirs onto a busy highway.
